The Bosham Barn Dance April '09

Chris Dwyer writes: -

"On Saturday 25 April 2009, the MAD (Make a Difference) Group treated us to another Barn Dance at our Bosham church, ably organised once again by Marion and her team.

The event attracted over 100 people, ranging from toddlers to senior citizens.

There was an enthusiastic response as our caller Helen Floyd took us through the dance routines with her usual skill and patience.

The dances seemed rather easier this time - or perhaps it was just that we are getting a wee bit better.

Those who did not dance still enjoyed themselves - one very elderly lady was heard to remark that she had not enjoyed herself so much for years! Another commented on the “real community spirit” that animates our occasions. A non-Catholic lady of my acquaintance, who has never attended one of our gatherings before, was clearly delighted.

During an interval from dancing we were entertained to music from the new Gananin band (I’m told this is a Gaelic word meaning “no name”).

Liz McNally and Fr Kieron sang plaintive Irish songs.

As well as providing a wealth of entertainment, not to mention a substantial buffet supper, the evening also raised £560 for projects dear to the hearts of the MAD Group - notably the proposed extension to the church to install a new kitchen and toilet block. Altogether a very happy and successful occasion.
